How to do a power scan with a Dish Network remote?

With a feature called “power scan” you can program your Dish Network Remote without entering any code. To execute a Power Scan on your Dish Network remote, the following steps has to be followed

  1. Switch on the required equipment. Hold the mode button(TV, VCR or AUX) for about six seconds till all mode button back lights on.
  2. Push and release the power button after a few seconds
  3. For a second, press the Up button by pointing the remote at the required equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up then the equipment will power off.
  4. Press the Hash (#) button to check whether the code entered is valid. If the code is valid then the mode light will flash for three times.
  5. To check the code whether it is working, try operating the various functions for that equipment through the remote.

To do Power Scan in AUX mode. Follow these steps

  1. Press the AUX mode button, so that all the mode button back lights will on.
  2. Enter 0 for TV, 1 for VCR, 2 for AUX.
  3. Press the asterisk button (“*”)
  4. Push the Up/Down button by pointing the remote at the required equipment. If the code for the equipment arises then the equipment will power off.
