Requirements for the connections during Installation

  • RG – 6 Cable
  • Switches and Connectors
  • The Receiver has to be connected to the TV and DVR, VCR or DVD Player.
  • The Installer will connect the receiver to the phone line in subscriber’s home and ground the system to meet local/NEC requirements.
  • Only DirecTV approved materials should be used by the Installer.

Initial preparations before Installation

  • The subscribers need to select a room for installation where they wish to watch DirecTV programming.
  • The whole installation process will take 2 to 4 hours. So subscribers have to remain at home till the installation gets over.
  • After the completion of Installation, the installer will give a simple demonstration about the system to subscribers.
  • Subscribers have to place the Television away from the wall that helps the installer to reach connections.
  • Make sure that an 18 year or above old person is available in subscribers home to sign a paper work at the time of Installation.
  • The easy and clear roof access has to be provided for the Installer.
  • If subscribers wish to have features like Ordering Pay Per View and On Screen Caller ID, then they need to check the land based phone connection with a wireless jack. The Caller ID service will be provided by the phone service provider.
  • If subscribers are owners of homes, then they have specific rights and regulations for receiving for installing television service. If subscribers are in rented home, then they need to fill up the Landlord permission form and submit it to the Installer.

Professional Installation

  • Dish Mounting

The satellite dish has to be mounted on an outside wall or roof within 100 feet from the TV. If the line of sight is needed, then the dish has to be mounted on the pole up to 5 feet.

  • Wiring and Connections

The wire can be connected up to 125 feet using RG – 6 cables per receiver. All cables have to be routed to the TV through an exterior wall or from basement. Connect the DirecTV receiver and all other equipments. Two satellite cables have to be connected to the DVR for DVR installation.

  • Phone Connections

The phone line needs to be connected to the DIRECTV receiver. If subscribers have any queries, then they can check the benefits of phone connection.

  • Remote Control

The Remote Control has to be programmed to the DirecTV receiver, TV and other devices in the system like VCR and DVD.

  • Customer Education

After setting up the installation, installer will train the subscriber on basic functionality of equipments and how to operate DirecTV service using Guide, PPV and Parental Controls. Depending on the receiver type, the training session will also include Maximum Entitlement, Recording, MyVOD, Recording a series, pause, FF, Interactive features and Mix channels.

The subscribers also have an option to suspend the connection with no service charge. However, the balance must be $0 while suspending.
