Dish Network broadcasts most of their basic and premium programming from the 119° and 110° satellite locations. But Hawaiian subscribers of Dish Network do not receive 110°satellite signal. They may be able to receive the 110° satellite signal with a bigger satellite dish. Dish 500 a 21″ x 23″ satellite dish is one popular model of satellite dish provided by Dish Network. Dish500 satellite dishes of Dish Network are slightly larger than the earlier 18-inch Dish 300. The Dish 500, provides very large capacity for local-into-local service, nationwide programming, and business services. This satellite dish is able to receive signal from two satellite locations and are usually pointed to Dish Network satellites located at 119°W and 110°W. However, subscribers residing in Alaska, Puerto Rico or Hawaii cannot receive the 110°satellite signal or any of the channels broadcast from this satellite with the standard 20 inch dish.

But Dish Network has provided new version of Dish500 antenna for Hawaiian subscribers. This antenna is especially designed for Dish Network subscribers residing in Hawaii. This antenna is 32 inches in width and X 31 inches in height. The Y-bracket of this antenna is slightly wider than the Y-bracket for the DPP twin LNBs used in the mainland(United States). The DPP twin LNB does not work in Hawaii. This is due to the fact that Hawaii comes down to the greater longitudinal distance between the 110 and 119 slots (compared to that distance at higher mainland latitudes). This indicates that 110 and 119 LNBs must be further apart for a Hawaii antenna.

The Hawaiian version of Dish500 antenna accommodates or meets up to this extra distance by appropriately spacing two individual DP LNBs. This antenna has very precise leveling requirements. The Hawaiian version of Dish500 should be mounted on a very hardy or robust surface so winds cannot create any issue, especially at higher elevations.

The antenna comes with reinforcement struts. Subscribers can run the two LNBs into a DP34 (or the newer DPP33) switch to get an output equivalent to what a DP/DPP twin gives subscribers. The approximate settings for the Hawaiian version of Dish500 are: azimuth=096, elevation=036 and skew=029.

Using the Hawaiian version of Dish500, Hawaiian subscribers of Dish Network can access varied TV programming with ease and comfort. This newer version of antenna has been very useful and drawing popularity among all Hawaiian subscribers of Dish Network.
