QR Codes:

Quick Response code abbreviated as QR code is a two-dimensional code, readable by barcode readers and camera phones. The code is formed of black modules put in square patterns on a white background. The encoded information types vary and they can be text, URL or other data. QR codes are used widely in commercial tracking applications and convenience-oriented applications aimed for mobile phone users. Compatible mobile phones with correct reader application can scan the image of the QR codes to display text, contact information, connect to wireless network or open a web page in the phone’s browser. Android operating system supports QR codes by including the barcode scanner and the browser supports URI redirection that allows QR codes to send metadata to existing application on the device. For iPhone devices, several free Apps are available with reader and metadata browser URI redirection capability. Many other operating systems are provided with barcode scanner that can read QR codes.
